January 1 – Schoolhouse Sampler: A Daily Embroidery Practice with Rebecca Ringquist
Get playful and messy with embroidery! Rebecca Ringquist, a Portland, Oregon based artist, designer, educator, and author, returns with an all-new embroidery design. In her fourth sampler class, Rebecca shares some of the history of embroidery as we stitch along on her Schoolhouse Sampler.
January 5 – Make a Leather Belt with Treasure of Nikki&Mallory
Learn how to make your own leather belt with Treasure of Nikki&Mallory who designs modern, bohemian-inspired leather handbags, accessories, and home décor. Whether you style your belt on a favorite pair of jeans or over a long, cozy cardigan, you’ll have the skills to create the perfect belt for every outfit.
January 12 – Sew the Liz Quilted Liner Jacket with Natalie Ebaugh
Fiber artist, quilter, and sewist Natalie Ebaugh teaches you how to make a stylish and versatile liner jacket out of a found or antique quilt. Learn how to select and purchase the right quilt for your project, how to care for and mend antique pieces, and how how to construct a coat from start to finish. With Natalie’s modern design, there are minimal pattern pieces to put together, and you’ll discover that making a beautiful, cozy coat is not as intimidating as you may think.
January 19 – Intro to Quilting: Patchwork Basics with Justin of Keaton Quilts
Whether you’d like to make a gift for a loved one, sew an heirloom to pass down, or craft a cozy moment for yourself, making a quilt is a wonderful way to express your creativity and hone your skills. The reasons for learning to quilt are many, but the basics are straightforward, and you’ll learn them all in this class from quilter and designer Justin of Keaton Quilts.
January 26 – Jewelry Design with Scotchbonnet!: Working with Fabric
Your bin of fabric scraps can be a treasure trove of style, as demonstrated in this fun class by accessory designer Tracey-Renee Hubbard of Scotchbonnet!. Learn how to turn a simple rectangles of fabric into a fun scrunchie, a turban headband, and a tie-on necklace. These projects are fabulous for beginners and only require a few straight seams and a bit of elastic.
