Quilt Market and Quilt Festival are always a whirlwind. But a beautiful whirlwind, of new fabric collections, amazing personalities and stunning quilts at every turn.

This year in Houston was no exception.

Quilt Market is the portion of the show that is open to the trade only. The biggest fabric companies set up booths for store owners to browse new collections. Here is some of Lotta Jansdotter’s new collection for Windham Fabrics.IMG_5095 IMG_5094

Tula Pink’s booth is always good to pop into for an energizing jolt of color when our energy starts to droop.

And Anna Maria’s luxe bohemian corner makes us welcome the rich fabrics of fall.

One sparely-designed corner booth generated a lot of buzz: The Cotton + Steel booth. Melody Miller, Kim Knight, Rashida Coleman-Hale, Alexia Abegg and Sarah Watts formed a design collective under the umbrella of RJR Fabrics. Their new fabric line will debut at the Spring Quilt Market, so stay tuned. We expect some pretty delicious stuff from those ladies.

Then it was onto the public portion of the show. We shared a booth with a new magazine called Love Patchwork and Quilting, that we think you will adore as much as we do. Courtney and Rebecca expertly manned the booth with additional help, and some of our stellar quilting instructors held demos and book signings: Sue Nickels, Liza Lucy and Kaffe Fassett.QuiltFest Collage

We adored meeting everyone who stopped by our booth for demos, tote bags, and crafty chats. We’re back now and recovered, with visions of future projects and color-statured fabric.
