Our good pals over at Chronicle Books are having a major sale this month on all their craft ebooks. Up to 75 percent off, friends. And to celebrate, they are sharing instructions for this lovely crochet necklace.
Every month, Chronicle slashes the price on a special selection of ebooks for Chronicle Eye Candy, and for the first time ever the theme is crafting. The result? A bonanza of craft ebooks at 75 percent off or more.
Head on over while the you still can (the sale ends the end of September). From sewing to knitting to handmade weddings, these are nine titles that we have in our personal library and we suspect you might want to get your paws on them, too.
To whet your appetite, here are instructions to make The Pastelito Necklace from Amy Palanjian’s book So Pretty! Crochet. Once you nail the method of slip stitching around the metal loops, you can whip out this whimsical necklace in no time.
- Size 4 steel/2 mm crochet hook
- Assortment of cotton DMC embroidery thread in pastel colors
- Thirty-four 10-mm-outer-diameter round metal loops
- Two 14- to 15-mm glass flower beads in pastel green
- 3 ft/1 m -in-/10-mm-wide satin ribbon in gray
Step 1: Using your hook and assorted colors of cotton DMC thread, sl st around the loops, covering each completely. Cut your thread and tie a double knot on each loop to secure the crochet. Trim excess thread.
Step 2: Thread your ribbon through 1 of the glass flower beads, then through all of the loops. Thread the other glass flower bead at the other end.
Step 3: Tie a double knot on either side of the bead to secure the loops and beads in place. To wear, tie on the necklace at the length you like.
