When Alison Kaplan of Kata Golda arrived with a suitcase full of little critters and swatches of hand dyed wool felt, my heart skipped a beat. Although her creations could be called cute, they are inspired by nature and her home in the Pacific Northwest and are appealing to both kids and kids at heart alike. Using mostly hand stitching, Alison shared with us her techniques of creating animal and woodland shapes, making expressive faces for her critters and whipping up a few holiday workshops that go live this week. Check out Alison’s Advent Calendar complete with hand embroidered pockets in which to tuck little treasures. Her fox stocking is the perfect size for placing presents within, and the crafty fox the perfect holiday critter!
