It’s the tail end of winter, and things are looking bright! All month long, some of your favorite instructors will be here to teach you a range of skills to express and exercise your creativity. Check out the video lookbook for February’s new classes.
February 1 – Carve a Rubber Stamp Kit: A Daily Practice with Lisa Solomon
Using erasers and carving blocks, mixed-media artist Lisa Solomon leads you through the carving of an array of stamps to create your own stamp collection. Print with stamp pad ink, brayer and printmaking ink, and create patterns and images on a variety of surfaces including colorful papers and fabric. Make this kit for play, correspondence, or gifts, knowing that you’ll be ready to go with versatile hand cut stamps whenever you need.
February 9 – Make Resin Jewelry with Twinkie Chan
Add a little sparkle to your outfit after Creativebug instructor Twinkie Chan shows you how to make your own glittery resin jewelry. Twinkie starts at the very beginning of the process, from choosing the right resin, to measuring and mixing it, to the best practices needed to achieve the perfect cure. You’ll also learn how to add jewelry findings and drill your own holes into resin pieces. Though this is a great project for resin beginners, you can use the same skills for molds of all shapes, whether for jewelry, sculpture, or decor.
February 16 – Make a Doodle Quilt with Annabel Wrigley
Break free from traditional quilting and enter the world of improvisational art quilts. Annabel Wrigley is a textile designer, author, and modern quilter, and she shares her tips and techniques for sewing one of her colorful and iconic doodle quilts. There is no pattern or template needed – you will be doodling your very own unique quilt design. Gather up all your fabric scraps in your favorite hues, because you are about to make something really special.
February 23 – Learn Knit Stitches for Crochet with Tian Connaughton
Discover interesting and useful similarities between the crocheting and knitting. Tian Connaughton is a highly experienced knit and crochet designer and technical editor. In this class, she demonstrates how to easily translate five popular knitting stitches – stockinette, seed stitch, ribbing, two-color mosaic, and a cable stitch – into crochet. With just chains, single crochet stitches, and half double crochet stitches, you’ll make practice swatches in order to incorporate them into your own crocheted designs.
