the Makerie Dinner by Teryn Wilkes

We’re back from the Makerie, our heads swimming with good memories and our hearts full of inspiration. There is so much to tell about this retreat nestled in the foothills of the Flat Iron mountains. The company was wonderful, the food delicious and the landscape spectacular. On our first day, tulips and daffodils were everywhere. We woke on the second day to a white landscape of softly falling snow that continued throughout the week.

We spent time with Ali, the Makerie’s founder, wandering in and out of workshops, along country paths, and between wooden cabins. Saturday night, we gathered with the 100 plus participants to share a meal. The food was delicious and the spirit of the event was magical. We created hundreds of paper flowers in soft shades of buff with pops of pink and glittering gold to decorate the room. Inspiring quotes were scattered along the tables and tacked into place with little bits of washi tape (of course).

Everyone snapped photos, placed flowers in their hair, and ate and drank while the snow fell silently outside….

One of the Makerie photographers, Teryn Wilkes, captured the true feeling of the dinner… pure fun and silliness as Molly Hatch and Aran Goyoaga of Cannelle et Vanille turn paper decorations into crowns while waiting for dessert to arrive.

And that was only the first few days!!! Needless to say it was pure magic! Stay tuned for more pics and behind the scenes footage from our trip to the Makerie!
