Let’s Get Ready For Me Made May

photo collage of 3 images of people wearing handmade clothing including linen overalls and cotton dresses

Me Made May is the month to celebrate your handmade wardrobe. It was started by Zoe Edwards in 2010 as a personal challenge to wear more of the clothes she had sewn. Since then, Me Made May has become an annual and global phenomenon.

How To Participate

To participate, all you need to do is pledge to wear your handmade clothes more often or re-purpose or style them in a different way. Me Made May encourages you to be more thoughtful about what you wear and perhaps about what you make in the future. You don’t have to post photos if you don’t want to. Zoe emphasizes that the month is less about making clothes or posting photos and more about focusing on and appreciating what you’ve already made.

Me Made Inspiration from the Creativebug Class Galleries

There is nothing we love more than seeing how you wear your makes in our class galleries. If you haven’t been wearing your me-mades lately, it’s the perfect time to pull them from the back of the closet and give them some love. If you’re new to making your own clothes, we’ll link the classes so you can dive in.

Kathryn wearing three fabulous Cleo skirts amongst lots of lovely books. In the photo on the far right, she’s also wearing Shirt No. 1.

Kathryn styled even more me-mades with three versions of Dress No. 2.

Elisa gave her Adelina dress short sleeves. Super cute for spring and summer.

Morgan, Caolinn, and Cristina style their Billie dresses. You can see how you’re able to wear the Billie through any season.

Lindsay in her Nina jumpsuit. She used 100% linen, made matching buttons, and added sashiko to the top front. What a special piece!

Kate made two Isla dresses in such beautiful and joyful prints.

It’s quite possible that Shirt No. 1 is the most me-made and worn garment on our site, if the number of class photos are any indication. You should definitely have a scroll through the gallery.

You all have made so many more beautiful handmade pieces from Creativebug garment classes. Don’t forget to live in all of your favorite me-mades this May.
