DIY Hexi Felt Coasters

Things we love right now:

Bold geometric shapes.

Color blocking.

Not getting condensation stains on our tabletops.

Inspired by Liza and Kaffe’s Hexi Quilt Design, I pulled together a quick and easy DIY that uses the hexi shape and pairs it with a functional and contemporary color-blocked coaster. Because you don’t want to start of 2014 with rings on your tables.

Next grab your ruler and a rotary cutter, and cut as many coaster shapes as you’d like from the felt. A set of 4-6 makes the perfect hostess gift.

Step Two: Tape Off Your Designs and Paint

Use masking tape to tape off half the hexi. You could also portion off the coaster in various sections like triangle segments, stripes, or block out the corners.

Using black acrylic craft paint (or other color of your choice), use a foam brush to paint half of the coaster. Allow paint to dry for several hours. Apply a second coat if necessary.

Step Three: Enjoy Your Chic Beverage Coasters & Impress Everyone
