What is your favorite smell?
Outdoors scents, woodsmoke, wet earth, cut grass.

What color makes you happy?
All the colors!! Have you seen my yarn?! It’s like asking a parent to pick their
favorite child. I love them all in their own way for different reasons. This blanket I
made to welcome a new niece into the world is made from a single skein of yarn and
if happiness could be knitted up it might be this colorway.

Favorite holiday tradition?
Almost every Thanksgiving (I think I’ve missed 2 maybe?) I’ve spent at my
grandparents. I love being at their house, my grandmother is an amazing cook
and it is so comforting to be there. The last few years I’ve gone up early and been
allowed to help with prep, learn a few of my grandmother’s recipe secrets and spent
a really happy, fun day in the kitchen with her.

Where is your “Happy place”?
In the passenger seat of our truck, knitting project in hand while my partner drives.

When you’re in a rut, what inspires you without fault?
Getting out of the house, sometimes all I need is a walk around the block, a visit to
local junk shops, a relaxed knit night at the local shop. Whenever I am feeling worn
down just changing the scenery seems to help.

What’s your favorite crafting tool?
Wow, what a hard choice! Maybe, these size 15 knitting needles that were a gift
from my friend Cynthia, she bought them on a trip from the artisan who made them.
I just love they way they feel in my hand, the striated wood grain and when I use
them I think about all the time I’ve spent knitting with Cynthia.

Have a favorite Blog or Blogger?
There are so many blogs I enjoy reading! Probably my favorite though is (I have to warn you here before you click through, the language is R rated at times and it definitely appeals to a VERY specific sense of humor)

– The Bloggess really, this blog often makes me laugh so hard I’m crying at my desk over coffee.
– In the knitting blog realm I love Stephanie Pearl-McPhee (The Yarn Harlot)  she’s funny, she makes knitting funny and reading it is like having a no nonsense friend give it to you straight.
– In the cooking realm I love Use Real Butter, her pictures are so beautiful it is almost as good as eating the food yourself. Almost.

What do you want for Christmas? OR, Are you making handmade gifts for
Christmas?
I gave myself the gift of two weeks off for the holidays this year. I closed my shop
and am taking some time just for me. It feel like a really luxurious gift.

I always give handmade gifts, it is one of my favorite things about this season. I
don’t make all the handmade gifts myself, Etsy has been a great resource for finding
talented makers, and I go to lots of local craft/artisan fairs to find special gifts. I can’t
tell you the handmade gifts I’m working on, I don’t want to spoil any surprises!
