We’re so excited to announce the launch of our newest channel, focused on projects perfect for taking on planes, trains and automobiles. Soon, many of us will be traveling all over the country heading to family and friends homes for the holidays — crazy to talk about the holidays in August, but they’ll be here before we know it!
So do the fun part of planning your trip now and figure out which of our travel-friendly projects you’re going to pack in your carry-on. We’ve highlighted a few here but head to our Aircraft channel to see more.
This knotted necklace is a simple project that gives you a hit of Natalie Chanin’s style without the time commitment of a typical, time-intensive Alabama Chanin project. Natalie shows you how to take strips of jersey fabric and turn them into a statement necklace. This would make a great gift and if you’re flying across country you could make presents for the whole family in the time it takes to travel to Mom’s house.
Here’s a project that will keep the older kids busy. This Turkish Map Folding class taught by Jody Alexander will teach the kids how to turn a flat piece of paper into a pop-up greeting card. Combine many of these folded pieces of paper together and create an artist’s book, decorative garland or even a crown!
Our list of travel crafts wouldn’t be complete with out a yarn project. This Crochet Hexi Cowl is the ideal winter project and perfect for tucking away in your bag and bringing on board. Cal Patch shows you how to work a hexagon in multiple colors, as well as her favorite way to join them as you work.
