We escaped the city fog this week for a visit to the bright Oakland studio of artist and illustrator Lisa Congdon. In person, her sunny personality illuminates her bright and airy illustration style and artwork.
I felt a little like a snoop, taking pictures of all the gorgeous corners and vignettes. The layers of images, text and found objects – all artfully clustered – were irresistible.
One of the best things about visiting artists’ studios is the inspiration to come home and elevate the flotsam and jetsam of my everyday life. I certainly don’t have Lisa’s illustration skills, but I came home newly inspired to show off slightly battered family photos and weird baubles I’ve collected in a fresh way.
Lisa is downright inspiring and impressive on many levels, and we can’t wait to work more with her in the future – so stay tuned for more of this sassy and enormously talented lady.
See more of Lisa’s beautiful work on her website. You can find some of her work for sale in her Etsy Shop.
