For 100 Layer Cake‘s set design, we knew we had to do something bridal (duh), but also a little edgy and modern. It had to match their aesthetic of handmade elegance, simplicity, and totally-awesome-party-times.
A backdrop is the first step of any set because, let’s face it, you deserve better than a boring white wall.
Courtney has a long and passionate love affair with hot pink and gold, so we added a few pops to the backdrop of cotton strip tassels. Also, it looks stupid cool.
Courtney uses Pinterest to get a sense of what inspires each of our artists and she knew the set had to be soft and feminine. Since — spoiler alert — the classes we filmed incorporate a lot of tassels, using a giant tassel backdrop was a fun way to pull it all together. A few baskets of party favors and some wedding notions on a shelf, and we basically want to move in.
What do you think? Are you ready to go plan a DIY wedding yourself?
