Creativebug Welcomes Amanda Brown
We’re so excited to welcome Amanda Brown of Spruce to the Creativebug site. Amanda is a gal who approaches the hard work of upholstery with a keen sense of color, a sharp eye for interior design and a feminine touch.
When we shot with Amanda in Austin, Texas, we were all excited to bring her skills and expertise to Creativebug. Upholstery is a dying art. Thoughts of old men in dark garages reupholstering your grandma’s ancient love seat tend to come to mind. Discard whatever you might think about the art of upholstery; when you walk into Spruce‘s showroom, midcentury modern furniture meets bright and bold patterns in a quirky and sophisticated way. Wielding pneumatic staple guns and clad in eye goggles, the Sprucettes and Spruceter transform hand-me-down pieces and thrift store finds into sparkling gems. Walls filled with hanging fabric swatches and thrifted lamps transformed with brightly patterned shades sparkle in their industrial space. Amanda just launched her first book, Spruce Upholstery and is wrapping up her country wide tour.
Stay tuned for classes with Amanda on furniture building, upholstery and lampshade making coming soon!
